Oh yes. I'm friends with an editor, who told me he just doesn't get good writing. Of course, he often rejects me. Which makes me rather... uncomfortable : )
Thanks Angelique. Always interested in what an editor says. Let's break this one down. Less than 50% of the submissions he receives are "a submission that fits the call—theme and length, the guidelines have been adhered to more or less, and the writing is good"
What jumps out is "and the writing is good". What's good? Compelling? Stylish? Interesting? Accurate? If 50% of the writing he receives has any of these qualities, let alone all, I'm astonished. Because let's be honest. Not that many "good" writers out there.
Thanks for the heads up, Angelique. I was able to pen one for Samhain Screams and I was very intrigued by the call for Momento Mori, though I'm not sure if that one will click into place in time or not :)
Except those that follow this blog. 😉 We are ALL good writers.

Thanks as ever for this one.
Thank you for this! I just squeaked in a couple of submissions to Cast of Wonders and The Stygian Zine.
